The Reiki Principles and the Sticky Slope

If you know the Usui story, you will know that Dr. Usui found out, through bitter experience, that it was not enough to cure the physical body to regain true health; you had to go to the root cause. After all, if you have a head ache every morning, after drinking 10 pints of beer the previous evening, taking a handful of Asprin each morning might make the headache go away. But do you know what will be there the following morning? You have to get to the cause for lasting health. The trouble is, the seeming magnitude of most things defeats us before we start.
"I am going to exercise every day and lose weight"! After day one we look at every day and the pounds we have to loose and it is just all too much. The gradient is too steep, every day is too long and four stones is too many biscuits! So we give up.
Dr. Usui recognised this and so he starts each of his principles with the words "Just for today" - a do-able amount . For me and biscuits, today is too long so "Just for now"- this once, I will only have one. I can manage this, and this now is followed by another, and then another and before I know it I have managed a "Just for today" and then a... "Just for this week" and then.......
Be kind to yourself. Make the gradient easy
and enjoy being perfect.

The Principles of Reiki
Just for today I will live
the attitude of gratitude
Just for today I will not worry
Just for today I will not anger
Just for today I will
do my work honestly
Just for today I will show love
to all living creatures
A useful tip............ This works in other ways too.
You go into work after your holiday...Your desk is piled high with memos, reports and what ever. You pick up one piece and put it down. You try to organise it and see what needs doing. By lunch time you seem to have done nothing and are exhausted. The mountain is too high.
What you do is this: pick up the first thing that comes to hand, read it and deal with it. Then go on to the next and by lunch time you have cleared your desk... Simples!... Gentle gradient.
